She has earned a PhD in Social Sciences with a specialization in Tradition Studies from El Colegio de Michoacán. Her poetry has been translated into several languages and presented at festivals and conferences around the world. She currently lives in Guanajuato, MX.

Matt Sedillo

Matt Sedillo has been described as the "best political poet in America" as well as "the poet laureate of the struggle." His work has drawn comparisons in print to Bertolt Brecht, Roque Dalton, Amiri Baraka, Allen Ginsberg, Carl Sandburg,  and various other legends of the past.

Janet Gonzalez

Janet Gonzalez is a poet and spoken word artist who has brought her stories of the immigrant experience to the Los Angeles poetry scene for decades. Having featured and performed at such venues as A Mic and Dim Lights, Da Poetry Lounge and various colleges and universities, she was also a part of the Boom Crew with poets including: Nikki Blak, Kat Magill and Judy Holiday. In 2025, she hosted Santuario Open Mic at Mercado La Paloma.

Ceasar K. Avelar

Ceasar K. Avelar is the second poet laureate of Pomona, CA. His poems speak the truth, not only to people in a position of power, but also to the everyday person that views the working class as a stigmatized identity.

David A. Romero

David A. Romero is a Mexican-American spoken word artist from Diamond Bar, CA. He is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of El Martillo Press. Romero is the author of My Name Is Romero (FlowerSong Press, 2020) and Diamond Bars 2 (Moon Tide Press, 2024).

Espacio 1839

Espacio 1839 is a vibrant and community-focused space in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, that functions as an art gallery, gift shop, and resource center. Founded by artists and activists, it celebrates local artists and Latino heritage while also serving as a hub for community engagement and progressive culture. The name, which means "Space 1839," reflects both its address and its mission to be a welcoming environment for discussion and creativity.

El Martillo Press

Romero, El Martillo Press publishes writers whose pens strike the page with clear intent; words with purpose to pry apart assumed norms and to hammer away at injustice. El Martillo Press proactively publishes writers looking to pound the pavement to promote their work and the work of their fellow pressmates.
